So, I didn't post last week because I haven't really had any big updates, but here's a run down on what I've been up to the past two weeks.

We are at the resin printing stage in this process. I had one resin print done at the beginning of the week, but then I noticed something that I had to change so I had to send another file in, unfortunately. I made a small change right after my last FDM test before resin printing, which turned out to be a mistake. I increased the size of the little dots for my gallery to lock the acrylic into place, without accounting for the clearance that was needed for the size of the material. Of course, the intention was the have the butterfly clip completed and photographed before today, but due to the queue of people in front of me for resin printing, upon talking to Peter, the absolute earliest the print will be done (contingent on any failures that could occur) would be by mid-day on Monday.

Resin Print 1:

After the clip is done, I can spray paint it black, the last step is to install the acrylic pieces (which are already laser cut as of last week) and then the gold hardware.

I've really learned some valuable lessons throughout this course. With object design not really being my area of expertise, I wasn't really well acquainted with all the processes and the time and testing that making an object takes. This was also an insanely busy semester for me and I'm not too proud to admit that some weeks, object design became a lower priority. I've said this before but I severely underestimated how much testing and editing would go into this process. Although I am disappointed that it won't be done for Monday (partly on me because of the error with the gallery), the resin print is sort of out of my hands. But nevertheless I have put a lot of time and work into this clip and I'm super excited for it to be finished!
